DTEC – Money Laundering
The Law
Money laundering” is a crime set forth by Law no. 9.613 of March 3, 1998, regulated by Brazilian Central Bank, CVM, SUSEP, among others. These regulations provide on “money laundering crimes” or concealment of goods, rights and valuables, as well as preventing the use of the financial system against the illicit acts set forth therein. It further provides that financial institutions that fail to keep control and full knowledge of the transactions will be subject to sanctions and penalties.
The Solution
DTEC - Money Laundering ™ is the system developed by Softon to identify, point out and handle transactions carried out within the financial institution with traces of "money laundering". To accomplish said task, DTEC - Money Laundering ™ analyzes the behavior and the financial transactions in accordance with the Law.
The Technology
DTEC - Money Laundering ™ implements the knowledge provided by the Law and in its regulations through the application of artificial intelligence technology, transforming it in business rules that, when applied on transactions, identify suspicious situations with great reliability.
Benefits
Besides identifying the suspicions, DTEC - Money Laundering ™ Analysis Module calculates a score that is attached to each suspicion. The higher the score is, the higher is the probability of laundering, and, most important, informs also the reasons in full details, showing the user a complete report on the analysis made. It further makes a reference to the points of the Law that contributed to the suspicion. Therefore the financial institution retains the safety of having all the suspicious situations documented based upon the Law. DTEC - Money Laundering ™ delivers financial institutions with an intelligent agent, dedicated and specialized in the Law to monitor and analyze a great number of existing transactions, in an automatic and safe manner. DTEC - Money Laundering ™ major advantage is that the professionals of the institution that are responsible for the Consultation Module's operation do not need to be specialists in the Law on "money laundering", since the Analysis Module allows for indications, already analyzed under the Legal standpoint, with a complete report on the reasons that led to the suspicion.
Modular system
The system’s brain is the Analysis Module, that contains the knowledge based on the Law to Identify “money laundering" suspicions and is responsible for the transactions analysis.
This module is independent from the platform, volume of operations or customer's systemic architecture, and it can be implemented without the need of any adjustment in its analysis structure.
All it takes is the customization of integration modules to the environment and each Customer's platform.
The Consultation Module of DTEC - Money Laundering ™ allows for on-line distribution of the analyzed suspicious situations, through a workflow capable of having different levels of decision (regional, point of sale and others), so that the professionals of the institution that have direct contact with the clients involved in the suspicious transactions can confirm or refute such suspicions.
Technical Characteristics
DTEC - Money Laundering ™ was developed using Object Orientation Concepts along with Business Rules and WEB interfaces, allowing for fast adaptation in the case of new determinations of the Brazilian Central Bank or possible needs of the Customer. The DTEC ™ solution can run under Windows, AIX, Solaris, MVS (CICS and IMS) platforms; and can access Oracle, Sybase, SQL Server, Informix, ODBC, DB2, IMS/DB, VSAM, OSAM and other sequential files; supporting Standalone, 2-tier, 3-tier, n-tier Client/Server, WEB and Batch architectures.
